You made so many points I am so in agreement with. For example, nothing can replace travel and getting a feel for another country. Now, there are some that travel in a way that they are insulated from the country they are visiting - for example, taking a cruise and only go on the organized trips at the different ports. Or, to me, the horrors of horrors, to travel and then only eat at American chain restaurants.
To me, mingling with everyone, smelling the smells and eating the food of the country one visits is a must!!
And speaking the language at least a tiny little bit is always good. Luckily, we have translation tools right on our phones now. That helps a lot.
I only have been to the Arab part of Africa, Tunisia and Egypt. I loved both countries and now, making so many friends on Steem from all over the world, I am hoping to see many more countries.
And yay that Uber is in existence. Even though your trip was expensive - at least you got there 👍
I found you through the dcontest and I am so glad that I did. Following you now.
Hahaha, yeah that's pretty common :) . It's also a shame. The world has a lot of great food to offer.
I always try to learn a few phrases of the language of my destination. It changes everything. Locals will often treat you a lot better once they see you've made an effort :)
Thanks for your wonderful comment. I just followed you - any plans to put your podcast on Steem? Maybe upload to DSound?
Thank you for the follow. I have tried to upload it before and wasn’t successful. Right now, I am a bit overloaded with things to do and on top of that, I am a bit tech challenged.
I have been slacking on the podcast since I am putting a lot of my time into Steem and honestly, I am almost 100% sure that there are faster ways to do things - I just don’t know them 🤓
