What Is Dtube? - for Beginners
DTube is a service allowing for users to upload and view videos, very similar to the function of youtube.com. DTube differs from Youtube in several important ways.
First of all, DTube is tied to the social news service site Steemit.com. Steemit is conceptually similar to a site like Reddit, but all interactions are incentivized by a cryptocurrency unique to the site, called STEEM and Steem Dollars. A user must have a Steemit account in order to use DTube.
Second, DTube is decentralized. Unlike a site such as Youtube, which has a centralized server holding the data uploaded onto the site, DTube's content is spread out through multiple sources, somewhat akin to the model used by BitTorrent.
A third difference between DTube and a site like Youtube is that DTube is far more permissive in terms of restrictions on content. Youtube is fairly scrupulously policed, both in terms of sexually explicit content and certain forms of objectionable content, but this is not the case for DTube.

I think this is a great alternative to the censorship youtube has been enforcing lately.
