Watch Kyoto Trance Party video on DTube

This is from a psytrance party in the mountains of Kyoto I went to a few years ago with some friends. In the morning, they had a fire dance show, among other things. Guess you had to be there. Enjoy.

Very strange party with magic ritual! I wouldn't have thought this was in Kyoto, Japan! This seems more like a hippie party in the old days. The sound is to faint but the music is nice with a tinge of Indian and African influence.
Nice graphic design and mixed.

Cheers.

It was a psychedelic trance party, yes a bunch of modern day hippies. Very chilled vibe. The music in this vid was in the morning, the music at night was psy-trance on one stage and other electronic dance djs at the other stage. The guy dancing in the fundoshiki is called Troll and he's super nice, went around the campsite and gave anyone who wanted a massage.

Thank you very much for your explanation! So, this is a modern trance ceremony! In the village in Nongkhai, there is a village trance ceremony every year. People will dress in red costumes and dance with local music and chanting. Then, they will ask one of the ancestral spirits to take over the body of the trance-person. The voice and manner of the trance-person will change according to the character of the invited spirit, either as an old man or young fighter or an old lady. Local people really believe in spirits and all the spirit worlds.

Cheers.

Yeah, some people involved do consider it a kind of ceremony. There's a famous DJ who's also a Hindu Sadhu named Goa Gil who talks about psychedelic trance dance as a kind of spiritual practice.

That ceremony in Nongkhai sounds interesting. Would like to see it. But I don't think I'd want to be the one receiving the spirit!

Interesting! Just thinking, say, if the spirit chose you as a foreigner. Then, all of a sudden, you could speak the local dialect and may start to demand the local food and moonshine! This would prove, beyond any reasonable doubts, that the spirit -trance is real, not a hoax!

But, there are already some local villagers whom the spirit would choose each year. There are other ceremonies in other provinces as well. Perhaps, when I have time I'll write a blog on this subject.
Thanks for your reply!
Cheers.

Great post Ken! Thank you for sharing.
