The Island // FreeWrite Author Reading

Hi There SteemVerse,

What do you get when @mariannewest and @d00k13 hatch a plan? A FreeWrite Author Reading on DTube :D. The two prompts used here are hungry and sunset.

The island was beautiful. The people were happy. They had challenges, they were hungry sometimes but it was nothing compared to the beauty of the island. They frolicked in the waves, walked on the sands, and they knew that some day, things would get better and they would hunger no more.

That day arrived with the MainLand Man. He looked around and liked what he saw. He wanted to call it home. With him, he brought some magic beans. He felt the island's soil was good for the magic beans and so shared it with some islanders. They had a taste and they liked it too.

Let's grow these together, he said. We could make this island abundant with Magic Beans. Then there would be no more hunger. They liked what they heard. They loved what they tasted.The islanders were intrigued. They nodded with excitement. They took beans and planted them.

As the beans started growing, MainLand Man realised that they needed to water the beans. They needed to bring in people from the mainland to help grow the beans. They needed to spend some time and effort so the beans will grow tall and proud. All the way up to the sky, he said.

Now, the Islanders had never had to grow anything. They got their rations from the Big Kahuna of the island and didn't have to do much for it. Some felt uneasy. They weren't comfortable being told what to do. They started resisting. MainLand Man got frustrated. The beans were already sprouting, and he knew they couldn't and mustn't stop now. Some islanders marched forward, while others stepped back.

Stop!!! some shouted. We don't like this!! Take your magic beans and leave! They felt there were other ways for abundance. They felt they had been on the Island far longer and knew of its potential. What could be done and what couldn't.

Give us more!! Tell us what to do begged the others. Excited to see what the Magic Beans could do for them. They continued to toil and work at it. Using the tools handed to them, taking advice on how to grow the Magic Beans.

The MainLand Man wasn't phased out. He continued planting, and watering, handing out the tools and tips, reaching out to those who were on his side. He knew that it was going to take longer but he didn't care. He was willing to wait until the Magic Beans reached the skies, and hoped all the Islanders will understand in time.

Every morning, the Islanders broke into their two different groups. They said things to each other, hoping to convince one another. Every evening the sunset would mark the end of another day, with the divide growing wider.

And while the Island continued to grow apart, the people on the Mainland chuckled. Happy with the unrest and waiting for when the time would be right, to walk onto the island and take the Magic Beans for themselves.
