The Challenge || University vs YouTube
The question by @ecotrain this week is a question I myself have discussed with friends and family on many an occasion. Does paper qualification still matter? Do we still need to go to University to get that degree?
This is very close to my heart because of my kids. I want to make sure I do right by them. Do I push them to get that Degree or do I allow them the freedom to absorb knowledge from their preferred medium.
Would love to hear your thoughts on this one too :)

Yes, you are right world is not ready to accept anyone without a certificates. Well, in career world you need certificates and most importantly in some profession life medicine , dental , civil , you actually needs certificates. But ya from youtube can can learn and develop your skills , from internet you can learn anything. But I feel university degree is a prove that you are educated and you are ready to enter into career world... Excellent explanation

This is what I tell my daughter because she wants to be a vet
You have to go all the way
Then a home schooler Mum had a chat with me and presented it from another angle
She suggested volunteering at the zoo, work in a pet shop, a vet.... get a feel for it, learn from bottom up, take the degrees accordingly as and when, if needed
But what I liked most about her approach was her child’s growth and development in an organic way and at her pace
But I guess that’s what home schooling is about
For me, I don’t have the patience
Toyed with the idea and decided the kids and I both need a break from each other 😉
But yes, I am still trying to find that balance between working with the systems’ expectations and dancing to our own drumbeat 😁
University is not about certificates or getting a qualification, nor is it about learning any "how to" ... it's about learning to think & ultimately about creating-defending original thought.

Having said that, Uni is not the only place for it
Also, there's no guarantee if you go to Uni, you will develop these skills
Just observations from people I have worked with :D
