Update on my curation rules for content
Just a quick post here. I am going to detail the rules I will apply to myself when curating content on Steemit.
- Content which includes embedded YouTube videos or links to youtube.com won't be upvoted. That content doesn't deserve my downvote, neither
- Any DTube video, no matter where it is hosted, won't be upvoted. I reserve my right to downvote it, in case I found it not deserving the rewards it will get, just as any other post on Steemit.
- Any content about technical analysis won't be upvoted. It won't be downvoted, neither. I reserve the right to upvote it if I found the author put real effort and provided any new and interesting point of view.
Rule number 2 is the new one. The reason for it to be added is that DTube is allowing users to link to YouTube videos directly, instead of "uploading" them to the DTube service. Those embedded videos are adding cookies into the viewer browser, causing it an attack to users privacy.
YouTube has already shown they are against freedom of speech and they allow or disallow content depending on their own political bias. DTube has supposed to be far away from that, as people are able to post any kind of videos and DTube is unable to prohibit or remove it.
As I don't want to support YouTube platform and when using DTube I am going to be forced to support it, I won't be curating any content on DTube. As always I am saying, my vote is worth 0.01 STU right now, so not a big loss for most content creators.

Interesting perspective and info.
Thanks for sharing.

I will not receive your upvote in that case. You don't see to understand our pain when is come to upload toward IPFS!
Yes, you don't. I am not judging your content, it could be the best I could have ever seen. But I have decided to stop supporting YouTube and I am not going to do any exceptions on it. I won't be rewarding posts on HyperSpace neither.
IPFS content is not supposed to be uploaded. If DTube was a real decentralized platform, you would just tell them where to find your content and then they will create the Steem post for you. The problem with "uploading IPFS content on DTube" is the way DTube does it.
Right now they are changing from being a platform to publish videos and be rewarded for it to be a rewarding platform for videos.
I left a comment on their announcement about integrating LBRY into their auto upload feature. I agree on cutting out YouTube if possible and I really like LBRY. When I try to use their spee.ch version of my video it'll pull the thumbnail but get an error message about the URL not being a video. I want to combine LBRY and Steem! Decentralized, free speech video hosting plus Steem would be unstoppable.
You have all my support on this. Have a link to that comment so I ould upvote it?
If you go to my comments section https://steempeak.com/@distantsignal/comments it's second from the top. I've also bugged SteemPeak about integrating it, but I've never heard back from them. Apparently, each front end needs to accept their links. Thanks, BTW.
Done.
A few months ago I tried to embed LBRY videos on my posts. I tested it via adding an IFRAME HTML tag. But it didn't work. No frame was shown.
So curious that most Steem clients show YouTube, DTube or SoundCloud frames but not a real descentralized platform frames.
I head about LBRY but never try it myself. What is your experience with it so far?
The only thing I would add to @distantsignal reply is that LBRY allows you to share any kind of content, not just videos. For example, there are static websites and even HTML games. My picture on my Steem profile is hosted on the LBRY network.
Videos can be played directly on the LBRY Desktop app -check the Android one if you wish, it doesn't download the full LBRY blockchain- while other content is downloaded locally to your system and then you can consume it the usual way.
LBRY allows creators to put a certain price. And it can be in LBC or you can set a price in USD and the app will convert it to LBC when someone wanted to purchase it.
Hosting the avatars there is a great idea. I need to do that.

It works really well! You control your own wallet keys, unlike that garbage Flixxo, it’s actively developed, censorship resistant like Steem, and it can stream not only full HD video - I also think 4K - but ANY OTHER type of file. It’s terms of service is something 3 sentences long and amounts to the users controlling their content... period.
Good and understable reasons.
Thank you for understanding it, @toofasteddie

I just double checked your wallet and you seem to have almost no steem powered up. So I wonder why would you even publish anything about you curating content. Almost as your vote would actually matter.
All voted that are less than 0.03$ are nothing but DUST and are being fully ignored during payouts.

Buy a new pair of glasses, bitch.
I am getting rewards for most of my upvoted posts. I base my business on curation, instead of spamming other people so they upvote content you want to be upvoted. You are shit!
Also, I am at least humble. On the body I wrote:
So I am not a poser who says "sharing a passion towards (whatever". Dirty poser. I am curating content, not getting paid in any other way, like you do. You are trash!
I do not appreciate calling me a "bitch" and "trash". Especially knowing that I tried to be still polite (even after your recent abuses towards me).
Regards
Piotr
Despite I don't like insults and perhaps @javirid has been unpolite with you, I think @crypto.piotr that you get mistaken here.
And I think it is a little too much to downvote people as @javirid which is really an example of a good steemian. Go and check carefully his blog... have you find any post being paid indiscriminately by bidbots?
Please, think twice before judging good steemians or perhaps someone may judge you as well, wrongly, of course.
Have a good day.
Thank you for your words, @toofasteddie.
Dear @toofasteddie
Thank you for your comment.
However if being called "bitch", "trash", "shit" isn't reason to downvote someones post then I really do not know what downvotes are supposed to be used for. Should I just accept those insults? Perhaps I should.
I'm not planning to be downvoting @javirid publications in the future. As a matter of fact I really hope not to engage with this individual in the future.
yours
Piotr
