Gunbuster: 80s Mecha Anime at its Finest
Gunbuster, 80s mecha anime at it's finest! I was skeptical at first but I found myself really loving this show as it went on. As the title suggests me and my buddy Nick are gonna be talking about Gunbuster, widely considered to be one of the greatest OVAs ever made and made during a time of relative economic prosperity for Japan. The Gunbuster anime has had extremely large influences on the way anime has progressed and if you look closely at some anime like Gurren Lagann then you'll definitely see what I mean. What made gunbuster awesome was the beautiful character designs, an interesting setting and an overall very likable cast of characters. As a mecha anime from the 80s it holds up remarkably well to this day, the animation is fluid and crisp especially in the major fight scenes(some of which are Iconic in my opinion). One of the biggest surprises I had while watching the show is realizing that it was actually directed by the legend himself, hideaki anno and it shows. There are so many scenes that remind me of Evangelion and it beautiful.
Overall, I'm kind of tired of typing now so I'll just say that I love it and I encourage you to check it out!
