Open tuning. I had intended to play something different today, but my guitar was magically already in an open tuning and ringing so nicely that I had to just keep it singing that way. .

Open tunings provide the same kind of opportunity for composing as a new instrument that I've never played before. Notes are not in the places I expect them to be, allowing me to break free of the regular patterns that usually dominate my songs.

Really felt that the brightness of the strings in this tuning brought light and joy to a wet and dreary Monday morning. Sending you all some sunshine and an invitation to step out of your "usual tuning" today. Maybe you buy a coffee from a different shop this morning, or maybe you smile at the people in the elevator instead of ignoring them. Observe the patterns that are making you feel stuck and disrupt them with a small shift. That's all it takes.
