I have seen some botched announcements, but this one that happened is up there with the worst and is a very telling insight into Steemit Inc: incompetent and untrustworthy. This may or may not be the case, but as of now, perceptions are leaning this way.
There is a lot of fear and worry swirling around the blockchain at the moment. Rumours are running wild and NO ONE has a clue of what is going on. I have seen the news articles online about the TRON take over of Steemit, even these are so vague and airy. One of the biggest events to happen to Steemit and there is no press release or post to the community clarifying the situation. Steemit please enlighten us with your job descriptions, especially that of the head of communications and what does this tell us about your relationship with Ned.
After scouring the internet for a couple of hours, I found this quote on the Steem-engine discord channel in which @ubg had been in contact with Eli of Steemit. Please find the quote below:

A few things to say, the ideas/possibilities mentioned in the press release from Tron were just that, ideas. Engineering teams have not met in person, no true road map has even begun. Honestly, myself and the team had our first calls with them today and we haven't even scratched the surface. They have a lot to learn about our ecosystem and vice versa. I really hope all of you can join the AMA and please hold off on any drastic changes. Nothing is going to be done with this partnership to diminish or destroy STEEM”
I really cannot believe no one at Steemit, other than Ned and directors knew about the takeover. This is highly unlikely and some things do not add up. Then to say nothing will be done to diminish or destroy Steem without a leg to stand on anymore, is just taking us for fools. Remember the adage of fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on you....
Then talk about don't make drastic changes, when one mother of a drastic change was made without discussion is highly hypocritical, to say the least. Looks like a sledgehammer was taken to Steemit's already weak credibility and the community is pissed. And rightly so.

I really hope this will not be a wishy, washy session were nothing is discussed in great detail and I get the feeling the issues will be forced on us the community.

I advise everyone to participate in both up and coming discussions highlighted above. Until I get concrete direction, planning and guarantees, I for one, am holding off all further investment into Steem from fiat.

I like your thoughts and comments. It is really Weird what is Going On. I am glad I spend most of my time playing Splinterlands so I Really don't Care what Justin plans to do with STEEMIT. Steem will be fine and with all the upcoming stuff I don't expect much of anything from Justin and his Takeover............ @intrepidsurfer......
I really hope so, but from past experience we should expect all possibilities.
The absence of any statement here from steemit is beyond comprehension.
