checked the bees again yesterday
K started out by buying this Nucla from this guy on Craigslist and then he bought another hive from this bee whisperer dude who was moving. The 2nd hive is doing much better but they are both doing GREAT in this location. As we drove away from the dairy, we saw a huge field of sweet clover in bloom. K said that next year he would like to have them there - he will likely make friends with those folks and have more hives over in the field of sweet clover. The only problem I see is that it is next to a development so you have hope this ignorant people don't use pesticides. One whiff could wipe out all the bees.

I’ve been working on my garden all morning and I noticed I have more bees this year! I was thinking of starting a hive for them. I have an organic vegetable and herb garden and I think they would be a great fit! But I have chickens and dogs do you think this would be a concern?
no - as long as you have flowers it should be fine and water source - the dogs and chickens probably know better than to go near the hives you would think - at least the dog where we have the hives is not going near them - they are not in a fenced area - just around back - near the house actually - but they are undisturbed so far. They are not at our place - we have them at the dairy farm where we get our raw milk - we made an arrangement with the farmer once we saw that he was no where near cornfields that might have spraying going on... to put the hives on his farm.

you should talk to more people about this. My boyfriend is the one with the experience - I am new to this - i read Farm City and in that book the bees and the animals did not interact - but there are a lot of homesteaders on here who probably know as well - you could go on homesteaderscoop.com and ask in the Forums - or on Discord - homesteaderscoop is on there - there are a lot of homesteaders selling products from steemit who are on there who could probably talk to you more in detail. Or go to your local beekeeping supply and ask them about it. Blessings!
