What you need in order to have a lovely cross-country ski trip with kids: PATIENCE

Bringing the kids with you on outdoor activities is always very rewarding. Doing it in wintertime is also a bliss, but takes more consideration into warm clothes. Doing it on skis takes even more time due to equipment and handling the equipment.

I will give you a little heads up if you are planning a cross-country ski trip with your kids or if you’re just interested in seeing how fun and relaxing it can be to bring the kids out for a beautiful hike into the norwegian nature in wintertime.

In this posting I´ll cover the most important thing you need:

PATIENCE

In this video you can see the kids in the parking lot. To get to this point, hours of preparations are already invested. Here we are with three kids age 5, 4 and 1. Getting them ready with baselayer of wool, midlayer of either fleece or wool, socks, beanies, mittens (there is always one mitten missing that it takes ages to look for), outer layer, shoes and so on… Pretty great accomplishment to even make it to the parking lot if you ask me.

PATIENCE is the key. Don’t bother looking at the watch, take your time because you need it not to go insane. Don’t lose it when kid nr.3 is taking of his socks while you’re dressing kid nr.1. You’ll get there, eventually. Patience is key to good preparations.

So, to sum it up. Patience is necessary, not only in the beginning, but during the whole trip.
