DTube logo revamp / reject / redo / rewind
I came across @terrybrock post introducing #DTube (which was a great post) but I couldn't help recoil from the DTube logo. I create brands for a living and I spend most of my day convincing clients on what options to choose. I couldn't help but raise a red flag on this one.
The typeface is kind of nice, but the kerning (space between letters) is atrocious. I get the whole leveraging the look and feel of Youtube, but I thought it could be done better.
No hard feelings to the designer(s) of the DTube logo, or the person(s) who approved it, or the crinkled Kikimora that laid this monstrous egg... consider it constructive criticism for the value and future brand equity.
My criticism also comes with some potential solutions. Why tear down when you can build-up too, ya know? I took a few minutes to lay out some alternative options and they are free to have the original files if they want. I'm not sure who designed it or who's in-charge, but if you know them, please tell them its all theirs if they want it.

Agreed! When I first saw the current logo, I asked myself if the website was even legit. It looks like spam.
ahah! It's not even a logo, its an icon with text written next to it :D
I like that version too, although it's still very similar to YouTube.

for some reason when I try to play video off Dtube it does not work? also I cant log into it??
Did you use your private key? The videos are pretty slow on my end, but once they get going, it loads nicely.
Yeah I'm finding they play OK once I wait a few seconds. Hoping they fix this anyway.
