I agree, this trailer looks a lot better than the ones previously released, but as you say, there's a lot missing leading up to Dark Phoenix, including her stint as just plain Phoenix, where things go fine for a while.

There's the love story that does involve Wolverine, but it's yet to even be established with Cyclops in this go around, and then of course, from Phoenix to Dark Phoenix, you have the seduction of Mastermind under the direction of the Hellfire Club. So I don't know.

This is the second time they've gone for the Phoenix saga, and they just seem like they're going to get it wrong again. Just as Marvel actually has the X-Men under their wing, this Fox movie comes out. It will probably be years before we see another X-Men movie, but in the meantime, I'm hoping we'll be able to introduce mutants into the MCU, and then work on undoing all the what the past movies have done—just plain being all over the place and never really being true to the actual characters or storylines.
