Down Under Build Day 2
Day two of the Down Under Build! This part is alot about the details and the lines of the knife. When you are filing or grinding there are really two different aspects. One would be the hogging away of the metal, really tearing into it and removing everything that isn't really mission critical. The other is the fine lines. It is where the rough grind really starts to turn into the finished blade.
It is really the time when a hunk of steel starts to come alive. So today I am working on taking some weight out of the handle via cutting wheel, filing the surface, and filing the bevels.
When it comes to the bevels there is alot of material to remove. It is a whole lot of repetition. It is important to to create one face or surface. This will give it a clean look and aide in the sharpness. For this I am going with a scandi grind.
I hope you all are enjoying this build and enjoying the videos. I am trying to film as much as I can. Like I said, I get caught up in the build and start cruising right along.
The next step after this is going to be the heat treat! So I will harden and temper it and then start to work on the final finish.I would love to hear what you think in the comments below!
