A Look Inside #33 Atrophy: LEVEL EXPERT
When it comes to physical fitness I am all in! Well, mostly in. Ok, I'm pretty interested in it haha. I love doing things that challenge my body and push me to change and adapt. The down side is sometimes life distracts me and it all fades away.
This past year I did alot of yoga. I was doing yoga six days a week for about five months, but something happened while working and I got pretty sore and took a break.
When I had recovered from my issue I thought it would be a great idea to shake things up a bit and do some different things. I started doing push ups and squats. It was incredible. It only took a week before I could see real differences in my arms and legs.
The holiday season came around and I found myself taking a bit of a break. Ok, the break lasted from just before Christmas to just about a week ago. It was a nice break, but I knew it was time to start making something happen.
I jumped in with some amazing at home yoga last week. I thought I was going to be able to step right into it. That's what our brains do to us, they make us think that we can do anything. I quickly found that I was not able to do nearly as much as I used to.
I found that my arms were a big weaker, and my legs were not as flexible. That is too be expected I suppose haha. So I noticed that the hard work that I had done was quickly fading away, and new muscles were taking it's place.
Since I started back to making knives I have noticed huge changes in my chest, shoulders, and traps. I spend hours and hours filing and sanding blades to make them what I envision.
It isn't a total loss though, because change is happening. I suppose when atrophy happens we should take it as a reminder that our bodies are changing, and we need to pay more attention. So for me, I'm going to keep getting after it and see what happens!
Be well
