DIY skin lightening facial cream
Hey guys,
As you all know I love making my own hygiene and body care products at home, and this time I have "invented" a little mixture which in theory will act as a super skin lightening lotion.
The goal for me is to get rid of some dark spots that have appeared as a result of sun damage. I had made a facial scrub a while back for the same reason, and here's the video if you'd like to watch it:https://steemit.com/dtube/@evecab/gr45opo2
I researched all the ingredients that do naturally lighten skin, and decided to mix them all together! Why only use one when you can combine several?
These are the ingredients you'll need:
- Shea Butter (2 tablespoons)
- Coconut oil: 2 tablespoons (mine was infused with chamomile herbs)
- 1/4 cup of Argan oil (you can use any other oil if you like!)
- Lemon essential oil (at least 30 - 50 drops)
- Turmeric essential oil (at least 30 - 50 drops)
- a few drops of rose water
- 1 spoon or beeswax or soy wax for a vegan alternative
You can add any other essential oil if you want to add a specific perfume to it.
The main ingredients that will do the lightning are the lemon and turmeric oils, so make sure to put enough! All the other ingredients are packed with antioxidants and will also have an anti-ageing effect. Double benefit, isn't that awesome?

Fantastic do it yourself product! With the wealth of information on the internet, people should be able to decide what does what and source some for their own products. Better than consuming from big pharma.

Ohhh you should start your own local brand and sell these haha :D I actually indeed remember that vid when you talked about those dark spots..Good job on actually linking the vid again..I hate when peple say they'll link something down and then you don't find anything there haha :D never heard of Shea butter btw...but the final product looks a bit like a ghee buter my mother makes at home :D
LOL thanks Martin, yes maybe one day I'll launch my brand heheheh. For now I'm just experimenting but I'm having fun with it. Shea is a nut from a tree..it's a very thick buttery kind of fat, which is often used to make lotions. You can melt it and mix it with whatever =)
I need to try this! I have a few dark spots on my face that drive me nuts, but haven't found anything that seems to work yet. Though to be fair I'm kind of lazy about making something a routine. 😝

yeah I hear you, me too!! And then I thought I would try this...Indians swear by Turmeric for skin lightening, so we'll see =)You can also make an easier one, liek mixing one carrier oil (coconut or argan) with turmeric essential oil and lemon oil , if you don't have the patience to make a cream. It's quicker!
