The Arrival of Larry Bird

Larry Bird helped the Boston Celtics back to glory. The franchise greatness was wearing off by the late 1970s. Celtic tradition was traded away.

In 1978 the Celtics selected Larry Bird out of Indiana State even though he was returning for his senior year. Celtic fans did not know what to make of this move.

During his senior campaign, Bird single-handedly led his team to the NCAA finals.

Celtic fans knew what they have in Bird. By the time he arrived in Boston, the legend was underway.
