RE: BackYard Cannabis Farming 2019 - Episode 3: Preparing Your Grow Space, Treating Burnt Plants, Spring Flowers Blooming

Thats exactly why I stopped using oil type products on plants like neem oil. They would clog the stomata and inflict that exact kind of damage on the plants. Crazy if that was heat damage. I got clones last year from Sonoma, CA and they were 4' and came directly to vegas under 130°+ in direct sun. Well it was only one plant right? Plenty more im sure you can plant while this plant recoups!

It was actually 4 plants, but that is why I always grow more clones than I need to start. Best case scenario, you have extra clones to pass on to a few friends, worst case, you have back-ups. I actually used lime sulfur for bugs this time, not neem, but I have been considering a neem treatment - probably not yet however, and after this comment, probably not going to at all unless there is an outbreak. Thank you for the heads up. @Alchemage, what do you think about neem clogging the stomata?

As @dynamicgreentk mentioned, a little goes a long way and it’s easy to over-do neem treatments. Oils can clog stomata, but if used in the correct ratio then you’ll be just fine. Also only applying when it’s not too hot or cold and the sun isn’t directly beating down.

It makes no sense though that it would leave a carcinogenic residue two weeks before harvest but no other time. From my understanding, Neem oil is completely safe. The only reason you don’t put it on before harvest is because then your flowers end up with a very strange off putting peanut butter taste. Far as I’m aware that is.

On the contrary, a quick search reveals neem oil as being a cancer preventative: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4734358/

It's just easy to over use it. a little goes a long way. I have read that applying two weeks before harvest will leave a residue that is carcinogenic but I can not find literature anymore to support that.

I would not use any organic pest control products any later than 2-3 weeks into flower. The flowers will absorb them otherwise.

I have however used anti-fungal products late into flower to battle powdery mildew. No negative properties transmuted into the end product in that situation.

Have you heard of this? It's a natural bug solution that is sulfer based and water based...
