Please speak more on the implications of 'there is no way to know if what we see and hear is real'. I'm glad you're going to percolate and get back to us with more, because I agree, this is some important stuff.
Related topics may include the psychiatric symptom of derealization. As a nurse, I used to lock people away for believing that what they were experiencing wasn't real. Now, we speak of it intellectually as a very real possibility. Are we still certifying and committing people for this 'delusion'?
Another is Hollywood (example, Forrest Gump signaled to the public in the 1990s that fake video and audio is possible).
And another is the simulation theory. The crossover of concepts between simulation theory and 'deepfakes' is unsettling.
