Today I take you along as I use LINE Pay, a payment system created by Japan's leading messenger App, LINE. The interesting thing about this messenger App is that it started the sticker trend which most messenger apps have adopted and I see them setting the trend again in regards to digital messenger money.

Another interesting thing that should be noted is that come October 19th, 2019, general consumption tax will go from 8% to 10% in Japan BUT if you use digital money Apps like LINE PAY, you will get back the 2% in points. What an idea to drive the masses to digital currency yeah?

To use LINE PAY, one has to have a LINE account and the App on phone( obviously) after that you have to do a little activation with the click of a button, just look in the App and tap wallet and follow the simple instructions. Currently payments can only be made within the country your App is registered in it seems.

Once you click wallet you will see a number of options. I will explain them briefly.

• Send money ( send money to friends within the LINE messenger App
• Pay with code ( barcode payments of goods)
• Code reader ( scan barcodes to pay
• Scan bill (scan bills to pay them)
• Kakeibo ( budgeting App with calender etc)
• LINE points ( every purchase made with LINE PAY receives points 1 point = 1 yen)
• My Card ( your debit card/credit card / or LIne card
• Coupons ( Available or received for purchase )
• Insurance ( yup you can buy insurance)
• Smart Invest ( invest in stocks )
• Sticker Shop ( emojis
• Theme Shop ( Messenger background themes

Once you click the + Button in the App, it gives you options to deposit money in the App, and boy do they have options!

Once funds are in your LINE PAY, you can easily send money to friends by pressing “send money”, clicking their name, the amount and wallah! Even if the friend's phone doesn't have LINE PAY activated, it will show up instantly and ask them to activate to receive the funds.
