Greenhouse build - Part 3, hidden treasure 😣

Well i managed to get another few hours in the greenhouse today...

Things have been going well i've got the following done;

• concrete foundation out and back filled
• water butts drained and moved out the way
• bucket loads of soil moved
• Another frame completed ready for cladding

The only draw back has been i rediscovered a failed project from 6 years back...

The hidden heat sink

When i first put the greenhouse in i sank a blue barrel into the floor and ran some pipe work into to push hot air down to the bottom of it, this was then filled with glass bottles, bricks and bottles of water to create some mass to heat up. The plan was to a heat it by day then it would release this stored heat overnight helping to keep the chill off.

Well it failed big time

The issue with it was is i couldn't get a strong enough fan to push air down into to that would run of the solar i had at the time to it basically got scrapped.

An know i need to dig the bloody thing out at its slap bag in the way of both the sunken walkway and a raised bed....

On the plus side ill find a use for those bricks and gravel in the new build its just frustrating as its going to take a couple of hours to empty to get the barrel out and then fill the hols back in...
