From One Place To The Next - Nice To Meet You, DtubesteemCreated with Sketch.

We stayed in Jaco last week, a beach city and resort town on the pacific coast of Costa Rica. The shore line is 2n1/2 miles long of pale colored sand with scattered palm trees, a few high rise resorts and excellent surf—the waves are some of the best surfing in the country. Less than 20 yards from the sand is the main strip of Jaco, Pastor Díaz Ave. It’s about a mile long stretch of road that runs right through the middle of Jaco, the most developed coastal city we’ve found in Costa Rica. There’s a lot happening on that mile long strip—it’s where you’ll find markets, liquor stores, a lot of restaurants and bars, a few hostels, things like that, some tour centers and three strip clubs. 11 tattoo shops are also packed on the same short stretch of road, two of them are next door to each other and there’s nine massage joints—nine that we could see.

I’m still familiarizing myself with the GoPro. I took a bunch of pictures with it as we peddled up and down the strip. I used the iPhone photo editor to draw some circles and arrows pointing out those businesses I was talking about—they’re coming up. @jlsplatts showed me how to do that—thanks, Splatts! He showed me how to make a “snap” or thumbnail, too, whatever it’s called, I think they’re the same thing. I needed one for the Dtube clip on the cover of this article that he showed me how to post—everyone needs a @splatz on the crew. 👍🏿

The #dtube clip is a slideshow I put together with Splice. It documents our travels from the dashboard of the truck between Jaco and the shipping container we’ll be staying at for the next five days in La Fortuna, Alajuela Province, home of Arenal Volcano. I tried using iMovie, everyone recommends iMovie but I couldn’t figure it out, how do you speed it up and slow it down?? Quite a few people have suggested I get an Adobe app to do video editing but I can’t remember which one now—there’s quite a few Adobe’s in the app store. Which one do you use? Thank you! This is all new to me but I’m looking forward to documenting our progress—time lapsing, adding music, we’ll get it figured out. We’re working our way up to filming @puravidaville in the kitchen—“baby steps.”

Holy crappppp, lots of tattooing going on. Love hearing about your adventure @dandays, shout out to @puravidaville

Pretty weird, right? I’ve lived in some big cities and I have a ton of tattoos, between LA and Vegas combined, I can’t think of 10 tattoo shops and this little city in Costa Rica has more than that.... 🤔

Happy Friday! You know what that means. Means we’re about to make a good mess on this chain.

Thanks for stopping by, @farm-mom.

You did well with those shots from the GoPro. Nice to see some of the local spots were you were/are.

I’m glad you liked them, sir! I spent several hours today trying to get the time lapsing of videos down, now my eyeballs are jello—I’ll try again tomorrow. 👍🏿

Thanks for stopping by, @angryman.

My pleasure...enjoy your day Buddy...

hope you enjoyed :)

Hey what’s up, this is a pleasant surprise, how’s it goin man??

Thanks for stopping by, @cityofstars.

all good my friend :)
it's a pleasure to support you :)

This will be fun! Now we can really follow your adventures! Love it @dandays! My daughter has been trying to get me on dtube for a while now...a little to shy I am, lol :) You guys will be a huge hit! :)

You’re such a good comment leaver—you go right ahead and drop me as many comments as you’d like. You should maybe consider giving your daughter a shot, mom.. you might be pleasantly surprised.

I worked on time lapsing some video for a few hours just now until my eyeballs turned to jello—I’ll try again tomorrow. 😉 I’m really glad you liked this first edition, Birds, I’m hoping it’s like anything else and the quality gets a little better each time.

Thanks for stopping by, @birdsinparadise.

The Dtube came out good, music and all

Mission accomplished! Baby steps, wolfhart, baby steps. I know I don’t need to explain myself to you again cuz you’re about as anti-tech savvy as I am but this technology stuff is so far ahead of me. I just need to keep practicing—I still haven’t quite figured out how to send a picture message. 🤔

Thanks for stopping by @wolfhart.

I ask my son when I have to do something. This all is easier on the computer then on the iPad. I had things set up and spent time learning. But then again I had the time. Now it all hit and miss. Mostly miss.
Ahhh we will hang in there and keep plugging away.

Looks like you had some rain there too.............great shots and video. It's cool to see all the places you guys go to. I look forward to see more 🌴😊🌴

You are SO cool! Thank you, miss Lena, I’m glad you enjoyed this first attempt. I worked on time lapsing some video for a few hours just now and called it quits when my eyeballs turned to jello. 😉 I made progress, though! I’ll try again tomorrow.

Thank you for stopping by, @lenasveganliving, I saw you resteemed this one, too—your encouragement is priceless.

You are most welcome and I know what you mean my Friend; I get that way when I am doing food photoshoots. I am still trying to figure out my new camera, lol. Nevertheless, as long as we are doing what we love, that is all that matters. So take your time and enjoy the process. We will be here when you are ready! 🌴😊🌴

The link to the shipping container was very cool. Looks like a very cozy place to stay. Looks like you guys are having a great time. Boy they fit a lot of businesses in that stretch of road.
Looks like your making some real progress with the GoPro and dtube. Continue to enjoy your adventure right along with you guys.
Stay safe my friend.

You’re awesome, Sweed. I’m glad you got to see this post. To most it’s probably simple but I spent several hours on it yesterday, back n forth on WhatsApp with Splatts until my eyes couldn’t focus. Only one way to get in the major leagues, though, right? Batting cages first! Or... maybe it’s t-ball? 🤔 “baby steps.”

Thanks for stopping by, @thebigsweed. I’m glad you appreciate following us—I’m happy to share it with you.

Only simple for those who have it down. When it comes to learning something new with all of the technology out there, most times I'm lost @dandays

The adventure of @dandays and @puravidaville now on video (I mean, diaporama)!!! I dreamt i had a tat yesterday, then a bunch of em...
Can't wait to see video montage! Just lemme know if you need help

You got it! You’ve probably shot more video on here than anyone else I’m following, I should’ve asked you a long time ago. It’s gonna be fun, Ed. I know that much. How’s the back?

Thanks for stopping by, @edprivat.

Nice work @dandays! I love CR and can't wait to return!

Thanks a lot man, I’m glad you liked it! I’m really bad with techy stuff so all of these baby steps are helping—thanks for the encouragement!

Thanks for stopping by, @jrb450. Costa Rica is awaiting your return. 😉

haha! howdy sir dandays! sorry I'm late for the vote on this one. pretty soon I'll have everyone on autovote. Well maybe not pretty soon but someday. So you feel right at home with all the tattoo parlors? hey speaking of tattoos, I got a fantastic one on my post today, amazing!
Also, I saw a mountain lion on our property yesterday! it was magnificent. ok, going to your next post.

A mountain lion?! That’s incredible! I’ve onky seen two cubs in the wild one time. Man that must’ve been exciting, was it just passing through? Did you feel threatened?

Yeah I guess I did feel comfortable around so many tattoo joints. Just seems odd to me. I’ve never seen that many in the big cities, congested like that. And I’ve lived in some of the biggest. I can’t tell you where 9 tattoo shops are in all of Los Angeles County but there’s 9 within a 1/4 mile of each other in Jaco. 🤔

Never worry about making my vote on time, sir.

Thanks for stopping by. @janton.

howdy sir dandays! Well eventually I'll have everyone on autovote, as soon as I get my account big enough. Should only take a few more months.
So everyone down there has tattoos? The first thing we noticed when we got to Texas was where was all the tattoos? lol..no one had them. In Ohio everyone and I mean everyone had them. Except us.

The mountain lion was so majestic. No I didn't feel threatened. If anyone would have he should have. Not only are we heavily armed but we're protected.
The only thing I would feel threatened by would be a venomous snake just because I think I'd lose my faith and get into fear because they freak me out so bad. Like when we had a big one in the house I lost it for a minute or so. lol.

The mountain lion was just passing across our North lawn in front of the pond, he stopped for a few seconds but was probably only visible for 90 seconds.

That tattoo on yesterday's post, I wanted your opinion on that and how long do you think that took? But I think you made another comment so if you already addressed it there then forget this question.

Great question! My pleasure. The guy who did my back, this guy, has won multiple first places for line work speed. He’s really fast. I sat down 7 times at ‘about’ 3 hours each time. So, I’d say at least 25 hours is an average time on just an upper back like his—a lot of ink. I’ve seen a lot of pieces that big but not as much ink. A whole lot of ouch.

His butt cheeks have possibly more ink than his entire back, see how much ink is on both cheeks?? And even down his hamstrings. Oh my gosh, I can’t imagine how bad that hurt—ouch! I bet there’s another 30 on his cheeks.

50-60 hours.

wow! could you even sit after having that work done? I mean for a few days it would be hard right? lol. But hey, evidently he was motivated and probably did it in honor of his heritage so I'm sure the pain was worth it! But if anyone wanted to see his tats he'd have to take his shirt off, at least. I wonder if he has anything in front?

ha! I looked at that artists site, wow, remarkable work!

Heck yeah, that’s Tim McEvoy, I met him in Las Vegas when we were both 18. He did my upper right arm, the whole bicep area—that’s 25 years ago. Then he did the top of my left hand probably 10-15 years ago. We built a repor, which is a good thing you’re talking about a tattoo artist who’s remarkable and you were the guy who helped start his career.

Well, when I wanted my entire back done, I knew I wanted Tim because... I hadn’t seen him for many years. I know he’s incredible. And, last but not least, I’m a sissy!! I wanted it to be over as quickly as possible.

Oh dude! No way could that guy sit down in the picture you showed us. No way! Minimum 2 days, maybe 3. No sitting down for him. Janton, I can’t imagine how he handled himself the first couple of days handling his bathroom duties in the morning—ouch!!!! There’s no way he could drive a car either those first few days.

wow. Howdy sir dandays! Thanks for all the information and education on this tattooing stuff. Like I said, everyone in Ohio had them except us. It just never entered my mind. So your whole back is done? Your arms are an ocean scene, what is your back, a jungle scene? I think you need to show us. lol.

How did you get that guy's, Tim's career started, by letting him work on you?

Actually, one whole arm is ocean, my left arm is all music and my back, from my neck to my waist is all a tribute to my mother. I probably will show it off at some point, I’m still getting used to this social media thing though so I’m holding back a little bit on all of my tattoos.

Tim. Man, he and I were both friends with a dude named Chris. I was turning records at Luxor hotel the same weekend my buddy chris was having his bachelor party like 25 years ago. Well, Tim went to the bachelor party and we all ended up partying afterward. Found out he and I lived in the same city, he was just getting started doing tattoos and I just started getting them—the timing worked out great! We’ve been friends ever since.

Happy Friday, Janton. It’s a great day to be alive.
