Comparing DTUBE and MUSICOIN!

I think it's absolutely amazing the changes that are taking place with the realization of the power of blockchain technology.

All kinds of problems we've had with internet things are being revolutionized one at a time.

With that comes the need for a free, fair and uncensored video streaming platform to replace the monstrous YouTube.

Today I'm going to compare two new solutions that have emerged in the crypto space, and tell you why I believe Musicoin platform will become the next major streaming platform for music based products and why Dtube will become the major VIDEO platform.

Both platforms take the same idea but for different uses. If you look at how YouTube manages content, it is similar to google search engine and how things are categorized and ranked based on an arbitrary set of rules or SEO practices that determine how easy or hard something is to find.

This kind of sorting can be manipulated, and this is the very reason why the system is broken.

Somebody else has control of whether or not you'll be able to find content. If the rule create doesn't agree with the content in the video, they are able to tweak the settings of the algorithm to make those videos not appear high in the list of search results.

The blockchain levels the playing field and allows everybody to have equal chance at being seen based on how closely the searched term matches your title.

Its now up to you and how well you name thing as to whether or not you'll get noticed.

Now, I've tried both networks, Dtube for a music video release, and musicoin for a SoundCloud style audio release.

There's one huge issue I see with the Dtube network compared to musicoin and that is the ability to link an external nonuser to your content.

With Dtube, the only way that a view can earn money in steem is if a logged in steemit user views the video. Say I want to share a Dtube link on Facebook for my fans to go watch and market it for views. This doesn't work because a majority of people on my fan network are not part of steemit. This may become easier in the future as more mass adoption happens, but right now the ratio is terrible. There's currently anywhere from 40-60k users on steemit compared to YouTube where 2 billion people potentially could be reached (pending non censorship and proper marketing). Due to the way steem dollars work, a user who upvotes must also be a steemit user.

Musicoin on the other hand has fixed this issue by allowing anyone to view the audio and the artist owning that release gets paid anyway! They have built into their mining a way for funds to be paid to the artist out of a special ubi pool (user basic income) that is not paid for by the user viewing the video. Now we have a real unlocked form of solid pay per view system that all 2 billion people who use streaming can be reached. As well, there's an option on the musicoin network for users to also find an account and tip extra to the artist/release holder. This now brings in an element of respect or loyalty from fans.

All you have to do is link your track page address to anywhere whether it's Facebook, Reddit, Instagram you name it.

Go ahead an have a look! Here is my profile page on musicoin network, I'd love if you gave a play or two to support my cause but also to see that you can pay the artist without paying yourself!

I believe Dtube needs to adopt a similar strategy in order to become huge and take over YouTube or else it will remain an insider thing with steemit and never really reach the masses.

I hope this post helped to uncover some of the unknowns about these new technologies and helps you to make more informed decisions about them!

Cheers,

Chris
