DTube Needs LiveStreaming! | My Two Cents on Evolving the PlatformsteemCreated with Sketch.

To even compete with Youtube or Twitch in any sense (even though that may not be the goal), the platform needs to allow livestreaming. I make videos from time to time, but in livestreaming, it really allows the ecosystem to thrive as people can upvote (or flag) in real time creating a whole new dynamic of making brilliant and ever changing content.

If this implementation comes sooner than later, I will make DTube my full time video streaming platform, and although I only have 800 subscribers, I can still bring those people over and expand the steemit user base at the same time. It is crucial to expand on pure video uploads because this type of platform is almost archaic at this point... but we are still in the infancy of relative blockchain technology and DTube feels like what Ebaums World was to the year 2003.

I think DTube is obviously going to be branched off of (as it somewhat has been already), and eventually we will get a fully functional site with livestreaming capabilities. I can see how people streaming sports events and films could get around a alot of copywrite laws and what not, but hopefully with a future fork, security and the evolution of content creation can take center stage.

I look forward to the developments, but I'll be livestreaming in Youtube for just a bit longer...

@brandonk Whats going on brother? Hope your doing good and glad you made this post, I noticed that you mentioned #livestreaming, and being that you are already on #SteemIT, and already one step ahead.

Have you heard of @Dlive? Be sure to check it out man, and let me know if you have any questions. Being a former twitch streamer for about 3/4 years ago, I have never seen the amount of traction with a tight knit community like @Dlive. Just to give you a quick breakdown here is some information I wanted to provide you. All information is also provided on Dlive Help Center

What is DLive?
DLive is the first decentralized live streaming and video sharing platform on Steem blockchain where you can earn rewards in Steem Dollars and Steem. DLive does not take any beneficiaries or fees from the people who have earned their rewards, so everything you earn belongs to you.

Revolutionary Rewards Model
Be rewarded for your quality and original content directly from DLive and the 900,000 users (and growing) of the STEEM blockchain. When content is upvoted the reward is taken from the STEEM rewards pool, meaning you can reward someone without using your hard earned cash.

Note: Steem Dollars and Steem are the currency tokens on Steem blockchain that can be exchanged for fiat money like USD, EUR, GBP and so on.

A Platform Built for the Community

DLive strives to offer the best experience to both content creators and a viewers. The platform was built by the community for the community. We leverage the feedback provided by the community to improve our platform.

Why You Should Join DLive as a Streamer.

On DLive it is a lot easier to get noticed since you won't be buried under thousands of streamers. Even if you don't have a lot of viewers, you will still get the opportunity to earn rewards. The DLive Team is constantly viewing streams and videos on a daily basis. Rewards are given to content authors, not only based on popularity, but also the quality of the content. We want to ensure that everyone gets a fair chance to share and to feel valued for their efforts in creating their content.

Why You Should Join DLive as a Viewer.

On DLive, we also value our viewers! If streaming isn't your thing and if you would rather sit back and watch the videos and streamers do their thing, you can still earn rewards simply be being active and leaving meaningful comments.

thx! Might check it out, although it'd be nice tohave a single platform for everything.

I hear you man, however if you don't want to livestream on @Dlive as well, you can also just Upload Videos! Hope to see you around man, and if you would like to try it out let me know, or just give it a world of your own.

This already exists just not as DTube, DLive is a live streaming site using Steem made by a completely different team.

While DTube could make their own, one of the advantages of being Decentralized apps (Dapps)based on a common backend (Steem in this case) means that two apps can do there own thing and still be compatible. So for instance, you could livestream to DLive and upload non-live streams to DTube, both would get posted to your Steem profile as a combined feed.

DLive also supports uploading videos to their site instead if you really want a combined all-in-one site like a YouTube but personally I think it's better to have two inter-compatible sites. As the saying goes, "It's better to do only one thing and do it well than to do everything and only do it decently". That's the exact issue YouTube has right now, they are trying to do everything and are failing hard because of it (aka why many people stream to Twitch even though YouTube LIVE exists).

tl;dr: DLive already exists for livestreams, DTube doesn't want to do it since DLive exists and can work together with it since both use Steem.

PS: DSound also exists for audio uploads like SoundCloud, also another completely different team separate from both DTube and DLive.

Thx for explaining

Great post. They also need to add 360 video viewing and VR functionality.
I wrote about it here, check it out.

that'd be real cool.
