2 Minutes with the Farmer: Getting Goats Ready for Market!!!
Today on 2 Minutes with the Farmer join me as we sort the goats to get them ready for the goat auction. We need to get the whole goat herd down to the barn and sort them. We sell all but a few of the males. We keep the best males for breeding and sell the rest to market. There is also an update on the sick calf that we did the video on yesterday.

Buying goats and selling them at market is something that I have been milling over for the last several months. There seems to be a very strong market for them and more and more people are buying them. You never have enough room or time to do all of the projects you want to. Haha!
Buying and adding some weight the. Reselling does work. The highest prices for goats are in the winter. So if you buy in summer generally lowest price keep a few months then sell you can make some money. I used to do that all the time but now that our own herd is big enough I don’t do it anymore. Trick is having a good eye for healthy goats.
Did you ever do a follow-up post on the last goat auction you went to?
No I never did. But they brought $2.20 a pound which was good. Hoping for about $2.60 a pound with this group
