A famous argument I have such respect for is one that goes as such:
Stuck in the middle of a desert, pockets full of diamond and gold. You have not had any water in 4 days.
As you travel through this endless desert you come upon another wandering soul, who in return for your diamond and gold offers bottles of his water.
What do you do?
I think we as humans have become so dependant on ease of life and the widespread thought of what others would justify as having value, may not be the case in a wider aspect.

In a Mad Max world out perception of value would change completely so I agree with you to some extent. Our modern world has become very specialised and there are very few people who would be able to be self sufficient and survive in a Mad Max world.
