People, please beware of censorship on DTube
Hello everyone.
I make this post because recently I noticed that the thumbnail of some of the videos, that I uploaded to DTube have gotten replaced.
I have been moving from Youtube to DTube in the hope of preventing censorship. For reference take a look at my DTube profile: https://dtube.video/c/andersrh
As you can see the thumbnail for the Avicii video has been replaced with a NSFW (Not Safe For Work) image. In my opinion this does not encourage free speech.
The real thumbnail should be this one, because it tells about the symbolism in the music video of the Avicii song:
I make this post to warn you that some day DTube could be censored just like Youtube is today, so I begin to doubt it could be an great alternative. I fully understand that the Steem blockchain - just like Bitcoin is secure - but what about IPFS which hosts alle the videos and thumbnails?

NSFW is so when viewing dTube at work the boss doesn't fire them for the content on their browser. Also it helps people who avoid those types of videos..
Yes I understand that. It's fully understand that it's not appropriate that a thumbnail from a porn video is shown while at work - but who is marking the video? I don't see anywhere on DTube where the users can mark content as NSFW, so it's a moderator somewhere! Also I don't understand why this thumbnail is market as NSFW when we are exposed to Satanism all the time anyway - but btw this actually irrelevant. I am just curious who marks peoples videos as NSFW.
What kind of a nazi-filled workplace fires employees due to browser content? Sounds like a 3rd world country.
Actually, this is a feature I added, that hides the cover picture for articles that have negative r_shares. Basically this cover was hidden as NSFW because the downvotes outweighted the upvotes. I do this to protect stupid stuff from being displayed on dtube, this way the community (aka whales) can easily control a bad content and downvote the hell out of it to hide it.
I don't believe this is censorship, anyone can have the option to 'activate nsfw fully' in the settings.
As long as the users/community chooses what is shown this is democracy and I respect that. But please have a look at the users who upvoted my post/video:

Maybe I am a Steem noob (I am pretty new so please forgive me if I'm wrong) but as I understand users with the most SteemPower weights the most. As I can see the users who upvoted have far more power than the one who downvoted.
Is r_shares different? And how does it work?
Also I tried to disable the hiding of NSFW videos in the settings but when I refresh the page it went back to the "Hide picture" setting, so I think there is a bug there.
It also depends on the % people vote with. People with more than 500 SP or so have a slider to choose their voting power. In dtube you can also change your voting % in the settings.
Ah great thank you. What is the reason voting for example only with 50% instead of 100%? Can I loose money voting with 100% all the time?

In fact a quite good idea. But what about people just BUY a shitload of steempower? If they really earn it with quality content there is nothing wrong.

It is. The difference I see here is that the community can censor unwanted content instead of Google choosing what to censor on Youtube.
I'd consider it censorship if the ability to view it is gone. While a thumbnail does have to do with the video, it should never be an integral part. If a thumbnail not being shown is really going to stop a video from gaining traction, it probably wasn't too thicc of a video anyway,
