Horchata (AUTHENTIC MEXICAN Recipe) | Pinterest Recipe Test

in #dtube5 years ago (edited)

Hey Foodies, I have been looking for the perfect Horchata recipe for years! I stumbled across this one on Pinterest and wanted to give it a try. I've never added evaporated milk to any Horchata recipes I tried before and since this recipe says it is an authentic version of Horchata I wanted to try it out. I really loved how it came out, the evaporated milk really makes it extra creamy. One thing I have to say is to make sure you use cinnamon sticks like the recipe says. I did not have any on hand and used ground cinnamon instead which was ok but I think the sticks would have added extra flavor. If you are looking for a summer drink that is refreshing, this one is perfect! Hope you give it a try, thanks for watching and supporting my channel! I really appreciate each and everyone of you! The links and the recipe all follow =)

Horchata (Authentic Mexican Recipe) Pinterest Recipe Test

1 cup of white rice
1 1/3 cup sugar adjust depending on how sweet you want - 2/3 cup of sugar if you want it less sweet.
1/2 cup chopped almonds
1 cinnamon stick
1 T vanilla
1 Can 12 ounces Evaporated milk
1 1/2 cup of milk or almond milk
1 Liter of water
Ice

Start by soaking the rice, cinnamon, and almonds in a bowl of water all night, or at least for 5 hours so that the rice softens slightly.
Strain the water from the cinnamon, rice, and almond mixture that were soaking, disposing of water.
Blend the cinnamon, rice, and almond mixture with evaporated milk until a smoother mix is formed and the grains of rice are completely ground.
Strain the resulting liquid into a pitcher, and add the sugar, vanilla, and milk. Mix well until everything is well combined. Add a liter of water, and serve with ice. Enjoy!

I LOVE horchata! Since I moved to Barcelona I learned about Horchata as a great refreshing drink in summer.
I tried it once and now I have several every time during the warm month.
Thanks for sharing your recipe, greetings from Barcelona

Always so pretty dear. Great vid as usual. BUT WOAH! While you were blending my face was priceless. Now the cheese cloth part I was like coooool. My mom like this drink I used to make with cocnut milk and it was like a refreshing summer drink. LOLOLOL. Ill have to send this to her <3 Great video dear

Thanks <3 LOL someone said I dont need to strain it so finely because it should be a little more starchy, which I guess makes sense. So if she does make it (or you) give that a try :-)
Hope you are doing well :-)
