Home Tonight (Original)
While some songs show up and then fade, becoming less relevant as time passes – this song is an evergreen; I suspect the sentiments that inspired its creation will always exist within me.
There is a melancholy, in both the lyrics and vocal phrasing – an unabashed honesty about the lonely 'groundlessness' I was feeling at the time. As with most of my songs, it speaks to the challenges of being human, then ends with an uplifting bit of hopeful optimism.
While it wasn't written with concern for how it might be received, I've been humbled by how many people seem to personally connect with it. As a songwriter, that really is the sweetest gift – to know that my truth is relatable; that my struggle is an experience shared by many others.
May we all find our way HOME – wherever that is for each of us.

And, yes...it's true; my points of light are very well matched with their equivalent, shadowy opposites. It is the contrast between that makes life interesting and keeps me forever on my toes. Except for right now, maybe – not so much on these broken toesies! LOL!
Hi! Finally catching up with my PYPT reading (and listening) and ... just... wow. This song is so incredibly moving- it seems to speak directly to some primal part of me... it's like you've tapped into a universal experience which feels like we all carry inside us.
