This beat consists of three parts: The high pitched strings come from a tune called "It's Ecstasy" by Barry White, the "Ooooooooohh" voices come from Donald Byrd's 1963 version of "Cristo Redentor," and the drums come from the blues-funk song "Outside Love" by Brethren.

The hook also consists of three parts:
Nas yelling "Represent, represent!" in a live performance at Bonnaroo 2010, Phife Dog saying "this is how I represent over this here beat" from the Midnight Marauder's track Electric Relaxation (which also happens to use the drums from Brethren's Outside Love), and finally J-Live saying "I get up in that ass like feets with cleats" on the sequel to his famous track Braggin Writes.
