Once upon a time...A weaver of fates, the love story of a deer princess and a prince... Destinies that are interwoven through space and time... Lines of existence that can collide and maybe transform themselves into a new story. Do you believe in fairy tales?

This is one of my oldest songs, written when I was just a little girl and sung in Spanish, my native language. The song has been remade several times... It was included in my first demo, and then in my first official album as well.
Still its message has been renewed many times, being important at some moments of change and every time I had to get rid of dreams that were not going to come true, not to remain hopeless and have the determination of looking for new ones. I think my voice sounds different in my original language... what do you think? Should I share more?

ES: Canción en español, mi idioma materno. Un tema sobre reescribir nuestra propia historia contra toda probabilidad, de dejar atras los sueños que se mueren porque realmente solo se transformaron en sueños nuevos.

My lament is carried by the wind but it now returns and whisper... Girl! Stand up! Here is your new dream
*Mi lamento ha volado lejos, se lo llevó el viento, que ahora vuelve susurrando, niña, en pie, que aquí está tu sueño nuevo.

Do you believe in fairy tales? ¿Crees en los cuentos de hadas?

Though I always do the concept of each one of my videos (usually directed by @hedac) this was a casual collaboration in which I allowed my friend Serval to reinterpret my song in collaboration with my friend Alassie from El Costurero Real. As we all loved fantasy it couldn't feel smoother or easier... The video is simple but devoted to our love for fantasy and fairytales. I represent some kind of Roman Parcae, weaving the threads of life and fate in my loom.

Also a slight shout out, please be careful when you drive. It always makes me sad when wild animals are killed on the road. I have recently befriended a family of deer (stag, doe and fawn) so I can totally relate and wanted to use the video also as reminder. Sadly we have cornered animals in isolated forests, we have taken what once was theirs. We have built roads so they can´t cross safely. It saddens me deeply and thought about telling it here as it is related with our little tale. Note: the pelt-like blanket at the end of the video is not mine and is faux. I do not support fur use.

Once upon a time there was a deer princess... But FATE had something to tell...
Érase una vez hubo una princesa ciervo... pero el DESTINO tenía algo que decir...

The Weaver of Fate

Fate is usually dpicted as weavers of a tapestry on a loom... Some examples are the Moirai (Greek Mythology), Norns (Norse mythology) or Parcae (Roman) but also present in many other cultures. Usually three they are the personification of life, death and destiny...

It was a background idea but not the whole of it :). In Spanish "Parca" is also the translation of Grim Reaper and ravens and crows are thought to be messengers between the world of the LIVING and the world beyond the veil... So it is in fact a mix of all those ideas but my purpose in this little story is the same is the same...

If you watch the video... post your interpretation :) I think it's pretty obvious as the threads are different colours.

The song itself represents that we can change the course of our story even against all odds...
If you dream dies it can shift into a new dream...
It is all a cycle... just like "Death" also a transformation.

Ravens are traditionally considered "messengers" between worlds. Thus they appear recurrently in my first album Ancient Shadows (including the cover that you can see at the end of this article). Thus we chose a "raven" inspired look for portraying the "Weaver of Fate"

Funny fact: Working on a loom with fake nails while singing is extremely complicated :). Doing it with fx contact lenses with no prescription being short sighted was a gargantuan task and my friends Serval and Alassie showed the greatest of patience. I look blind... well I was, sort of :)

Ahora vuelve susurrando... ¡Niña, en pie!
Aquí está tu nuevo sueño

English translation of the lyrics

In this land where air is like a chain that traps you
There I lay illuminated by the ethereal light of the full moon
And its ghostly face invites me to rest
But it warns me I'm not going to wake up
But who cares anyway?
Who has claimed for my soul of stone?
My heart doesn't beat any more and my hands are closing
Trying to retain time in vain
My dream is tormenting my soul
extinguishing the light of stars
My dream suffers and keeps silent
When it gets frozen in my veins
My dead dream
inside of me
I hear it crying...
It's forgotten in the gloom
It's my dream, hurting and tearing
as it grasps its own existence
I have lost it in this abyss and I can't find it
It has succumbed into silence and I don't have it
Now I can only be saved
if I find a new dream
Ah, my lament
has flown far away carried by the wind
A wind that now comes back whispering to me "girl stand up!
Here's your new dream"
Now comes back whispering to me... "girl stand up!
Here's your new dream

Thanks to @souldelas.

Wow, what an amazingly deep and profound song. It's you right at the core of your soul and doesn't let go the whole way through.

So many different little but big stories are playing out in the video with the words. Awesome, you have a beautiful voice and a wonderful creativity!! Thank you for sharing!!

Thanks for the lovely encouraging feedback. :) and glad you found the different storylines int he video... that's precisely about it... storytelling and hopefully reaching!

Yes if you can't tell the proper story I find it is just for show then becomes something like a fad not art.

Your ability to translate your complete vision from your head to song to video and beyond is incredible, Priscilla. Thank you for sharing with us all.

aren´t you sweet? Thanks always for your support Samantha, really appreciated!

You are very welcome, my dear!

What an amazing piece! Keep up the good work!

Thank you very much for the kind words

I love that you build worlds for your music. You're such a talented artist ❤️

My favorite part is the look that Fate gives us at the end - like she knew what she was doing the whole time.

;) of course she knew
She had a soft spot for happy endings
💚

I was watching this video a couple of weeks ago and was so enchanted with it.. it's so beautiful, all of it. And I love your mysterious make up and all your dress , and hers..and his clothes as well. Everything you do is dreamy, even when darker. Always there is the light there.

I love this "darker" versions of you. You are beautiful and lovely in any shape and form and very talented. 💚
