This Greedy Forest

Sisters, forget that cozy cottage,
protected by romantic lumberjacks,
safe from the wild animals. Your
grandmother once dressed as a wolf.
Instead of folding sunlit counterpanes
or stirring a perfect pot of porridge, pitch
those glass slippers under the bed
and break in your strappy stilettos on these
glitter-lit paths. Who needs a Prince Charming
to rescue us in a white coach? We hunt
lions and tigers using fishnet lures.
We are not afraid. Sisters, if just for tonight,
climb down from the tower, drink deeply
from the wicked river in your martini
glass or press a cabernet kiss on a dirty
bathroom mirror. Let your long hair snag
in a gorgeous villain’s fingers. Quickly, come
dance with me under a disco-ball moon
while greed still rules this forest.
