Hello everyone! I’m Carol and this is my twelfth post on @dsound. I hope you are enjoying my posts about Portugal!

Today I will show you another interesting fact about Portugal!

One of the Oldest Universities in Europe is in Portugal

The University I'm talking about is University of Coimbra (UC).

This Institution is located in the city of Coimbra, Portugal. It’s one of the oldest still operating universities in the world and the oldest and one of the largest universities in Portugal.

Consists in 3 poles, 8 colleges and 18 museums. This institution also has a Botanical Garden and the Coimbra University Stadium.

The University of Coimbra was created on March 1, 1290, when King D. Dinis I signed in the document Scientiae thesaurus mirabilis in Leiria, creating the university, which was intermediated and confirmed by the Pope.

This institution offers all academic degrees in architecture, education, engineering, humanities, law, mathematics, medicine, natural sciences, psychology, social sciences and sports.

The University of Coimbra has approximately 25,000 students, covering one of the largest international student communities in Portugal.

On 22 June 2013 it was declared a World Heritage by UNESCO.

We have come to the end of another fact about Portugal.
