Afterdark Reprise [Teeth & Claws, Pt. 3]
Slave To The System
Slave To The System is a 12 track release, officially available from 30 November 2018. It is mainly intended for the blockchain, however I have released through the normal channels to get this on additional platforms.
So the plan is to try to post two of these tracks each week over the next 6 weeks and fit them into my post rotation on the blockchain platforms I use.
Half of the release is completely new material, four of the other tracks are remixes or alternative versions of previously released music, whilst the remaining two are tracks that have been released before but have been slightly edited and remastered for this album.
About this track
‘Afterdark Reprise [Teeth & Claws, Pt. 3]’ is a third instalment of ‘Teeth & Claws’ that I did, which was kind of accidental, in that I had been checking out the levels whilst I was mixing the original version of ‘Afterdark’. When I tried bouncing it I had forgot to un-mute or un-solo some of the tracks like the drums, which left just certain instruments in the as well as a kind of layer of ambience. I thought it would make for a reprise kind of track on a release, so it ended up as the penultimate track on Slave To The System.
About the Parts of Teeth & Claws
I had intended to remix the original version of ‘Teeth & Claws’, but got a bit distracted playing with one of those PPG synths and whatever drum machine it was (TR-505?), so it didn’t exactly go as I had expected and ended up sounding like this; the results were a similar, but created a completely different track. This track ended up being called 'Afterdark', which I subtitled as 'Teeth & Claws Part 2' and was added to my Vampire Bat release (another one I should forget about).
Also while I was creating "Part 2", I tried bouncing down the track to test the levels out, however left some of the channels muted (or was it soloed?) omitting the drums and exposing the FX returns a little more, creating another more ambient variation on the concept. So there is also a “part 3” to this (one for the album as they say).

All types of music appeal to me, particularly the more relaxed genres - chillout, ambient, downtempo, trip hop, jazz, latin, IDM, etc. Usually I will create downtempo electronic tracks, although I go through phases where it gets a bit more upbeat, just whatever I happen to be feeling at the time.

Yeah, it feels kind of dark and eerie to me too, maybe it’s a month or two out of sync or something, should’ve released this at the end of October maybe lol

I just wanted to keep is as the reprise/transition/segue into the last track on the release really, to signify a change of style ; )
