L.A.W - Silver Screen

in #dsound6 years ago (edited)

This is a song I have been working on for a while, an experimental working progress that aims to document an experience I had with a spiritual awakening and/or mental illness a few years earlier.
In what culminated as an overwhelming moment of astonishment and understanding - I thought I my life was film (I suppose in many ways in kind of is) and just to make it all the more confusing - I was working on film sets in the industry at the time.

The whole thought process sent me into a bit of a spin - but hey this song came of it.

The song also features a poem I wrote which begins at 1.51. For anyone interested I have also listed the chords and lyrics to the song, in case you might want to jam ;)

SILVER SCREEN

Em G
I slipped into the silver screen, It felt just like a movie scene
D D
All dressed in white, Searching for gold
Em G
Searching for colours, Rainbows and gold
D D
Wading through bodies and dancing through souls like this

Em G
They’re all just too slow for this, August isn’t cold like this
D D
Taking control, Tryna hold on
Em G
Whilst tryna let go like this
D
Patience

C C G D
All wrapped in gold, All wrapped in gold, All wrapped in gold

Em
A look in your eyes
G
Oh you’re so kind
D D
The soul doesn’t lie, Though fantasy tries
Em
Have I sold my soul for this
G D
Patience

C C G D
All wrapped in gold, All wrapped in gold, All wrapped in gold

Em G
I slipped into the silver screen, It felt just like a movie scene
D D
All dressed in white, Searching for gold
Em G
Searching for colours, Rainbows and gold
D D
Wading through bodies and dancing through souls like this

POEM

Life is a succession of lessons.
Be trusting (have faith), stay present,
Take part.
Take notice.
Always.
Hold on to nothing.
Every sun rise is an opportunity,
an open page,
a blessing.
Yes, death is the only certainty.
And yes. mistakes will always happen.

Make them.
Make a million.
And - Find joy in your sorrow.
Remember fault is never a question.
Time goes by.
In this slow show.
The slow and painful death.
The crazy but beautiful, slow and painful death.
The crazy...
Repetitive.
Mundane.
and then wow.
You’re alive.
You're vulnerable.
You are on the edge.
Of something, but then,
its just nothing.
Again.
Slower,
and then slower,
until something.
Again.
And then nothing.

Change.
the way you dress.
Change the way you speak.
Hold your head high.
You are a poet,
Don’t wait.
Flaunt it, show it,
fake it,
make it,
make mistakes.
fail,
live,
and only then,
Die.
This is why the gods envy you.

Wow, I love the theme, the vibe and, of course the performance. Really touches me. I have always delved into the crazy experience that this life is, and who's life exactly? Life, living itself, through.. this. The poetry is sublime and so powerful, big thumbs up and more to this epic piece. Thanks so much for posting. P.s Have you checked out Rupert Spira, JanFrazier et al?

  • in the words of Bill Hicks.

“Today a young man on acid realized that all matter is merely energy condensed to a slow vibration, that we are all one consciousness experiencing itself subjectively, there is no such thing as death, life is only a dream, and we are the imagination of ourselves. Heres Tom with the Weather.”

checking out the recommendations now! ;)

Im Listening to the transparency of things right now, great recommendation, really, really appreciate it!

Yeah, That's cool. Love the way Rupert talks of there only being the 'knowing of experience' and that knowing is all there truly is. Which is so beautiful because using the word consciousness can often make it all seem a little intellectual. But to say 'all there is of Sam is the knowing of that particular experience, without which there could be no experience.' - Well, not a soul can ever refute this, disprove it or remotely deny it! Great to find a fellow Spir-ee :)

Loved it, man, very ethereal and melancholic but more so bittersweet. And the poem really adds to it! It's very interesting to hear it the way you intended it, I always find that it's nice to have your own interpretation of words, but also learning what the author wanted it to be, its sort of two sides of a coin, both valid, just different perspectives. Art is both subjective and objective, I think.

Totally. Sometimes I find its the moment the two bridge. Like when a songs lyrics fit with our own life situation in someway. That synchronicity, perhaps is the magic.

lovely track, smooth - kinda reminds alittle me of Leonard Cohen - have followed x

wikid, i did learn with age - my voice resonates better in a low range.

thanks for this nice work... love it
