Moon River (acoustic)
Well this is my daughter's favorite lullaby that actually isn't a lullaby. I used to sing this to her every night at bed time or anytime she just needed to hear something pretty being sung to her. She says she's too old for lullabies now, which breaks my heart into ten billion pieces, but they all grow up eventually, don't they. She's 12.
Patty Griffin does an amazing cover of this (from the Elizabethtown soundtrack - I love that movie) but of course the most famous version of this song comes from Audrey Hepburn singing it in the 1961 movie "Breakfast at Tiffany's." It was composed by Henry Mancini and the lyrics are by Johnny Mercer. They created it specifically for Hepburn to sing in that film.
Lyrics:
Moon river, wider than a mile
I'm crossing you in style someday
Oh, dream maker
You heartbreaker
Where ever you're going I'm going your way
Two drifters off to see the world
There's such a lot of world to see
We're after the same rainbow's end
Waiting round the bend
My huckleberry friend
Moon river and me
