Mindseye - The City [Steemit Music League Challenge | S2:R4: 1990s]
Hello all! This is my entry for the Steemit Music League Challenge | S2:R4: 1990s!
This track is inspired by the classic 90s boom-bap and is based on two separate tracks that both focus on city life. The first one is a track from the 90s; 'The City' by the mighty Wu-Tang Clan. The second is a 70s classic by Stevie Wonder, 'Living for the City'. I managed to sample both of these tracks and fuse them together, resulting in this hip-hop track with a little electronica sprinkled on top. I hope you guys dig it!

Yeah, immediately recognized the Stevie Wonder sample, a sense of familiarity right away. The electronica really made it into something unique and thrilling.

Man those Stevie Wonder lyrics mixed with that boom-bap is so incredible. Those first 42 seconds hooked me and then you bring in that dope sound to take it to the next level.
And love how you intertwine those sounds starting around 1:19 (that scratch is epicc). Especially those scratches around 2:50 ayyy get it.
Absolutely love this Wu-tang Clan and Stevie Wonder inspired entry. And what incredible artwork to go along side.

Thanks for the love @chiefmappster! It really is a lot of fun playing around with vocal samples like these Stevie Wonder ones. I could spend days flipping them in different ways...and really if I had more time I'd create more of these vocal-sample-heavy tracks.
I found the drums (including the scratches) in a sample pack and completely twisted and turned them to make them sound as boom-bapping as possible. If anyone would be interested in some of the samples I'd be happy to share them!

And heck yeah maybe we will have to see what the future themes hold to help you out in that regard haha. Definitely want to hear more of that type of track from ya o weee.
