Ambient Sessions [03]

Today I experimented with layering sounds to great effect. For these sessions I am recording my Fender Telecaster through my Peavey Classic 50 tube amp and a couple of my favorite reverb pedals, along with a BI-FET preamp that gives me some extra oomph.

In the photo you see me toying around with one of my reverb pedals, the Caroline Meteore. I really love the tone she provides, but the extreme levels of reverb you hear are from my Line 6 Stompbox Modeler pedal, which you see to the right of my Meteore. It's got all kinds of cool effects, but I especially like the Particle and Octo Reverbs. I have an expression pedal that goes into this pedal, which allows me to use my foot to control the amounts of the effect. I use this throughout the session to add extra dynamics.

For the higher frequency ambient layer you hear, I experimented around with panning. I wanted to give the effect that this other sound is creeping or dancing around you while the lower frequency ambiance stays in one place stereo-dynamically. I think it adds a great effect, and I will experiment around more with this!

I hope you like these sonic experiments I have been doing, and as always, if you want these files to either listen to or use as layers/textures for your own music, just let me know! Peace and love Steemfam

i wish i could listen to it, but dsound doesnt seem to work today? you got another link?

Aw dang. It's a bit finnicky sometimes. I intend to put all my Dsound stuff up on my Bandcamp so people can listen to them whenever. Just haven't gotten around to that quite yet.

That's bad ass, man. Is the ambient background stuff created using your guitar and effects somehow as well? Or is that something else?
This also is in a completely different direction than some of your other work. Way to mix it up and keep it fresh.

Thanks brother! Yeah I kinda wanted to show all my different musical inspirations and examples of the different stuff I make. This is all 100% just my guitar and some reverb pedals, minus the panning I did to the second layer of guitar. Glad you dig it :)

This is SO RAD. Great post, resteemed etc...I love how it builds, and the beat and guitar elements are terrific. Really interesting direction you've gone in!

Thank you! I get a little bored sometimes and start exploring ;)

oh! It first sounds like a horror movie music. Though I was hearing this alone in room, and freaked out

Haha I can dig it! Hopefully it didn't freak you out too bad, but I'm glad it was able to conjure up some type of suspense

wow! this is some good job.looking forward to your next experiment

Thank you for checking it out and the kind words! Maybe my next experiment will earn your upvote ;)

Woah, this is exactly my kind of thing! The spacey synthy feels were awesome. I only found myself wanting a bit more variation, you know? Though I understand that you are experimenting here. And I'm pretty sure I'd appreciate it more if I understood what any of the equipment you mentioned was... ;P

Hey thanks! I always appreciate your comments and honesty. I will continue exploring and seeing what other sounds I can make :)
