A warm musical greeting.

"El marimbolero" is a Venezuelan merengue of the great Mandolinist Cristóbal Soto, founder of the ensemble Gurrufío. He is a versatile musician who besides playing mandolin, plays harp, trombone, Venezuelan Cuatro, guitar, among other instruments. He was Gurrufío's Mandolinist for many years until he settled in France. He is the son of another great artist but of sculpture and painting like Jesús Soto.

Among his compositions this merengue stands out and there are others like the dance "Por estos rincones". the waltz "and also", "Maroa" and "La patrona".

Speaking of the song, the marimbola is an instrument used in eastern Venezuela that replaces the bass, consists of a box similar to the Spanish cajon but with a hole in the front with three or four metal reeds where the musician plays with his hands directly, these reeds have a predefined sound, so that the music to be played must always be for a key equal or close to this tuning.

Un cálido saludo musical.

"El marimbolero" es un merengue venezolano del gran Mandolinista Cristóbal Soto, fundador del ensamble Gurrufío. Es un músico versátil que además de tocar la mandolina, toca arpa, trombón, Cuatro venezolano, guitarra, entre otros instrumentos. Fue durante muchos años Mandolinista de Gurrufío hasta que se radicó en Francia, es hijo de otro gran artista pero de la escultura y pintura como Jesús Soto.
Entre sus composiciones destaca este merengue y hay otras como la danza "Por estos rincones" , el vals "y, además", "Maroa" y "La patrona".
Hablando un poco de la canción, la marimbola es un instrumento que se usa en el oriente de Venezuela que suplanta al Bajo, consiste en una caja parecida al cajón español pero con un orificio en la parte frontal con tres o cuatro lengüetas de metal en donde el músico toca con sus manos directamente, estás lengüetas tienen un sonido predefinido, de manera que la música que se toque debe estar siempre por una tonalidad igual o cercana a esta afinación.
