RE: DSound v0.4: New IPFS Nodes spread globally, instant playback, higher curation votes, post formatting, several bug fixes and much more to come!

in #dsound5 years ago

Upvoted and resteemed. Great job! I am very glad to hear about these enhancements; we need something like this. But in regards to why content cannot be hosted forever? Why not? If DSound has any resemblance to SoundCloud, then, when people upload to there, they expect their content to be available for the foreseeable future for anyone to access. So what laws prevent you from doing the same thing? I'm just wondering, not criticizing. Thanks

Soundcloud is not Blockchain based and if a content that is published by a user is infringing any IP of a label or artist, then they receive a claim and can takedown the content. DSound, on the other hand, is Blockchain based, so if I would receive such a claim I wouldn't be able to take down the content and I would be easily prossecuted in the same ways as Napster guys or many other did. I don't want that, so that is why DSound will not host content forever, but user can do it themselves! ;)
Hope this clarifies the idea of IP compliance behind DSound... Thanks a lot mate! :)

It does make sense. That's why we need more interplanetary file system nodes.

Exactly! :)

But if some random person just spend one up, how would you guys even be aware of it? Does it work like the non blockchain-based Federated Network? I don't think so.

Each IPFS node is self suficient.
