How To Win Friends & Influence Relationships!
Hey everyone!
Thank you so much for stopping into my podcast post here! I'm pumped up to post this new episode wherein I talk about the ways in my life that I've learned to personally influence my relationships with people in a positive way as well as make myself open to as many friendly relationships as possible. I feel that I can get a long with anyone and just that belief in and of itself compounds as you move forward with meeting people. It helps you to be more positive in your reactions as well as enthusiastic about each new person you meet or learn from.
A HUGE lesson that I've learned throughout the years is that it's not always about saying the right things, triggering the right interest in yourself but actually a lot of making friends is just being a great listener with an attentive response that makes the other person feel strong, appreciated and valuable! I mean when is the last time someone complimented you during a conversation on something that you've been doing and you got irritated or lost respect for that person? Exactly. If you can make people feel special they will value the time they get to see you because they know you'll be proud and energetic about their updates with you. They will reciprocate this back to you when you then divulge your own excitements in your own life.

Besides the corny title which I assume is taken from "How to win friends and influence people" I think you are really spot on with your key takeaways. As you touch upon, being a good listener is way more important than being a good talker in a sense. You can literally sit quite through a whole conversation while nodding and occasionally asking intriguing question and that person will feel that you were a very fun person to talk to.
Another thing I think about with regards to that thought-pattern is the concept described in the book "7 habits of highly effective people", where one chapter is named "Seek first to understand, then to be understood". Something 99% of people miss on a daily. Combine those two concepts and you will definitely be perceived as an amazing person ✌🏼
Hahaha you saw that title ;) I appreciate your feedback on the conversation, definitely helps a lot to just sit back and be a responsive listener! It's a masterful way of feeling comfortable in almost all conversations (except ones where people are shy and quiet, then you have to take the reigns!).
