The vast majority of all those in prisons are in there for nonviolent drug offenses.
Drug addiction should not be treated as a criminal offense rather it should be looked at and viewed by society as a medical problem that needs to be solved.

I live in Sheridan, Wyoming and it is definitely a police state. There are an obscene amount of cops for a small town of fewer than 15,000 people. The police pull you over for no particular reason, or even for going 1 mile an hour over the speed limit. They profile people and are incredibly racist and it is particularly terrifying when one drives to the grocery store and sees 5 people pulled over in a distance of 7 miles. Even worse, you see an elderly person pulled over and they will have 3 police vehicles on the scene harassing one single person.
If you have ever seen the movie Footloose, its a similar example of a small country town with too many cops and close minded people.
That's pretty horrible. It makes me think of the Pentagon's 1033 program where municipalities can get free military surplus gear given to them out of their huge stockpile. Our government is rapidly militarizing small town police forces all around the country giving them everything from mine resistant vehicles to Bennett's to night vision equipment to sniper rifles. If you ever have a story of police misconduct or better yet catch a video of officers doing something wrong please do share it with me. I'll be more than happy to make them famous! & not famous in a good way. If you're feeling particularly brave I would love to show you how to start another FTP chapter or film the police chapter in your town? it might do some good if you could find a few friends and start patrolling and filming the police on the regular.
