"Does drinking tap water destroy my acid?" ~ LSD Myths #1

in #drugs7 years ago (edited)

Begone with all the myths!

Welcome to LSD Myths, an article series designed to put an end to the outrageous myths that surround LSD use and propagate false information. Some of these include the infamous "LSD stays in your spinal fluid" or "You cannot be a pilot if you do LSD". A lot of misinformation is passed around which has direct & negative effects on the outlook that society holds on LSD.

So without further ado, let's debunk the first one.

Does drinking tap water destroy your LSD?

Many misinformed LSD "aficionados" will suggest to their fellow psychonauts not to drink tap water on the come-up in fear that aqueous ions such as Chlorine in the tap water will destroy the LSD molecule and will lessen your trip.

This is silly, because your stomach is made of a mix of strong acids, one of which being *Hydrochloric Acid*, which is basically a solution *full* of Chlorine ions! Alas, swallowing LSD always works with near perfect bio-availability. Water has much lower concentrations of Cl^- ions than your stomach acids, proving this myth false.

So it's bollocks! Spread the knowledge everyone. Until next time!
