The Effects of Drug Abuse

The human body is design to operate naturally. Because drugs are chemical substance, it can affect the body in different ways. The effect of drugs depends on the amount used, the potency, and purity of the drug.
Drugs can have an effect on a person’s thinking, mood, energy level, and perception. They make worse motor functioning within the body, interfere with decision-making and problem-solving, and reduce inhibition, as well as cause a host of physical health problems. Some drugs have a sedative effect which slows down the way the body and brain function. Other effects of drug abuse include:

• Damaged kidney or liver
• Mood swings.
• Impaired judgment.
• Coordination issues.
• Trouble concentrating.
• Memory problems.
• Slurred speech.
• Uncontrolled eye movements.
• Stupor.
• Coma.
Drug weakens the immune system, making the body increasing susceptibility to infections. It can also cause cardiovascular conditions ranging from abnormal heart rate to heart attacks. Injected drugs can also lead to collapsed veins and infections of the blood vessels and heart valves. Some of the drugs can cause a birth defect and cause severe harm during pregnancy
