‘Barbell’ corn is available in Ohio if anybody wants to exercise. This taste treat for me is strange, so I decided to dig into the story.
An agronomist said that one of the two known causation is due to some chilling injury during ear formation, and this was observed in 2018 as well.
Another cause is due to glyphosate injury symptoms in non-GMO sweet corn because of spray tank contamination. So, the incidence of this ‘barbell’ corn is either one of the two causations or a combination of both.
Looking at the Corn Condition National Average. The red solid line is where we are, 2019. That steep drop-off, which seems to be an outlier is in 2012 when massive floods, like the one we had occurred. It is then expected that we are going to experience lower yields in 2019 as well.
The second lowest on the chart, the soya beans, only extends back to 2009, and does not include the 1993 floods or anything far back to 1928. But still, it is the lowest in the last 10 years. We just have to wait and see how prices move in the future, because even if those could be manipulated, I am sure that in a free market controlled by a central bank, that will not be allowed.
In China, every news article seems to be about pork pricing. The last I heard, it has reached 49% food inflation for the first 6 months of 2019 in China. Pork prices started soaring in July with 21% in a week; and then with the swine flu and the swift use of 60% of pork imports, they have pretty much run through everything that has been imported up to this point. It is a wild card from September onwards, especially going into the Golden Week on October 1st.
This is a huge weekend celebration in China, and usually during this time, a lot of people wants to get the meat. So, we shall see where it goes.
With all that I have discussed so far, have you noticed that everywhere seems to be talking about a state of food that is unusual? Here is yet another unusual story from vegready, a plant-based meals subscription program. Notice, right at the front page: “vegready is out of saleable inventory”. They have stopped all deliveries and active monthly subscriptions to customers, because they cannot get the vegetables either. So, what is going on around the planet? Why are there major companies like this, that are unable to fill their needs, even for simple vegetables and meat?
To give you an idea, this is what is going on behind the scenes. When you look at the delivery supply chain of our food distribution globally, it will give you a whole new reason as to why you should be growing some of your own food to supplement anything that you can still get at the stores.
Shortages can now be seen everywhere, and I can only forecast that it is going to get more severe in 2020. We also have to ask yourselves; do you think it is a coincidence that we are cooling across the planet now or why is the media in overdrive to still convince people that there is still runaway global warming? Yet all these food shortages are happening when a Grand Solar Minimum was predicted, and the first years of losses are now occurring?
