It is a popular saying that pride comes before destruction. Even if destruction is the destination of the proud, they have chosen this path - they don't want to back out.

A proud man always mistakes pride for high self esteem. The two might almost look the same, but they are different. A proud man doesn't see anyone better than him; he believes nobody is even close to his level. However, the man with high self esteem sees others as himself. but he still strives to grow.

The proud considers every attempt made by others to become better as a threat. Instead of considering how to better themselves, they will start investing all their energy to pull those people down. To them, nobody should ever dream of reaching their level because they always think they are above all others.

A proud man is the greatest fool, in my opinion. He would rather suffer for his ignorance than to be humble and learn from those that are better than him. To him, no one owns this position. No one is better and no one can ever be better than him.

A proud man prefers competition to motivation - no wonder he sees everyone as his competitors! He needs to compete with them to show them whos is better. "No one is wiser or better" is the motto of the proud.

As I previously stated, high esteem is not pride and pride is not high esteem. They are two separate entities. One of the greatest mistakes you can make is to think a man with high self-esteem is proud or to think that the proud man simply has high self-esteem.

When you are motivated by what other are doing to become better yourself, that is appropriate, because what is hopefully produced by this motivation is growth - and not pride.

Be careful not to fall victim of pride in the name of high esteem..

Thank you for your time.

Time is money! Get up and do something practical!

Still me,

I refuse to give up because I haven’t tried all possible ways.

Pride is a small word, yet it encompasses so many meanings. The way you described it is very similar to how I see, especially when parents are "proud" of their children. That sort of pride tends to be "My child is better than yours", and it serves no child any good. That sort of pride comes along only with a condition, i.e. if you do well in exams, or you win in sports, hence, children learn to value these achievements (which are competitive in nature) over anything. Great post and well-written!

Good point there, thanks for your contribution,
