The Worker-Princess - An Oil Painting
Portrait of an Indian construction worker.
Mother
I have never seen you
wearing one of those gold-bordered saris
with a gold necklace
with gold bangles
with fancy sandals.
Mother I have seen you
burning the soles of your feet in the harsh summer sun
hanging your little ones in a cradle on an acacia tree
carrying barrels of tar
working on a road construction crew....
poem by Jyoti Lanjewar
Beautifully painted :).
The face in the middle of the painting is my favourite, it shows all the hard work and dedication she has done in her life.
Thank you. Yes there is such a contrast between the real and imagined woman!
It does look very Indian, indeed. Beautiful artwork, @kathleenscarboro.
Thank you so much @zorank.

Wow this is how lovely a construction working dresses in India, beautiful. The whole country must just be awash with colour and scent and light, no wonder you are so inspired by it!
Thank you @donnadavisart, India always inspires me in so many ways.

Those colors! Another masterpiece Kathleen! She looks very focused on her task. Her face expression is to the point! Thank you for the sharing!
Thank you @delishtreats - the women on construction sites in India are incredibly hard workers.
