Leisure Drones. Most popular drone use case by now...
Hi there. Drones are one of the mega tech trends that most investors believe in these days, together with blockchains, IoT, AI, AR, etc.
While people like me work in companies making navigation systems for drones in very challenging situations (unknown indoor environments and similar), some companies are competing to grab the "leisure drone" market.
Let´s face it...the biggest (in terms of sheer numbers and popularity) drone use case by now is putting a camera on it and shoot cool selfies or movies for people involved in action sports.
Lots of companies competing in this market...The name of the game is: make it EASY, SMALL, and SMART.
For example, the Hexo+ is quite easy as you just set a flight plan from your smartphone and the drone executes it (and follows you if you are moving):
...but maybe wearable, rugged controls are better than smartphones for water sports? This is Airdog´s approach, featuring smart, tailor made-flight plans and algorithms for specific sports:
In terms of smart control systems, the Shift Drone controller is simply amazing...you just need to move your thumb
Never forget that size matters.. Air Selfie is cool in that respect:
Whatever the drone, an immersive, real-time flight experience is great fun....
Incidentally...why not a fishing drone?

i want one!
Meeee toooo
Can I attach a gun to these things?
Generally speaking, yes. Which is why anti-drone drones and other countermeasures exist....
Can I control them with encrypted RF and a multi radio frequency algorithm to prevent jamming? What about kevlar armor? I dont want a kid with a BB gun shooting it down!
You can do everything if you have the money to pay the right people to do it. And if people accept to get involved. I would not want to work on a weapon-bearing drone.
Since you're in the industry, how much weight can a common (average) drone lift?
Everything is scalable, by and large. But common lightweight drones have payloads under 1 kg.
Perfect, send me 2!!!
That's amazing and good to see you again
