"Drones are used to save drowning victims"
Two teenage boys in Australia were rescued with a new method using drone aid, methods that are still in the training phase by local coastal officers. Quoted from the BBC page, the two teenagers were caught a wave of waves off the coast of Lennox Head in the state of New South Wales.
The waves are reported to reach a height of about 700 meters due to the effect of Joyce cyclone storm, the summer storm formed on the northwestern side of the Indian Ocean.
Shortly after receiving the report, the officer immediately sent a rubber buoy that is categorized in a drone. although it could take time to reach by both victims, but the drones are controlled with a GPS device that managed to bring it safe to the beach.
"There has never been a drone equipped with safety equipment to help victims offshore like this," said John Barilaro, Deputy Prime Minister of New South Wales state, calling the related rescue a history.
"We still do not expect if the drone can be used over the target function, but this is really happening, and we are proud to be the first to do it," explains Jai Sheridan, the head of the coast guard concerned to the Sydney Morning Herald newspaper.
According to Sheridan, no more than one to two minutes to launch the drones and fly them to the point of rescue. In addition, the camera on the drone can also serve to record the evacuation process that can be used as a learning archive.
A great drone application to save lives quickly, accurately & at low cost. Apart from future use in warfare, drones have been a great invention with many useful applications.
