Texting and Driving Interesting Stats
Over the past few days I have read some very interesting statistics about the consequences of texting during driving.
Let's see a few and then comment on them:
- one in four accidents is the cause of texting during driving;
- It is less dangerous to drive drunk than to write messages while driving. About six times more dangerous!;
- texting during driving makes you watch on the road 10 seconds out of 40 on the one-km course. In 100 km you keep an eye on the road just 15 minutes.
I will not talk about the number of victims at all, which is not at all small, because that was not the purpose of this posting!
In any case, I am not a militant against the ban on using the mobile phone while driving. I think we can be multitasking and in time we will have the 6th sense highly developed or trained.

Very important topic, thank you for posting! I have been in some very close encounters with fellow drivers that have their concentration somewhere else, probably on FB... A Steemian would of course never do something irresponsible like that! ;-)

if i may suggest, please don't. I am a living proof of text and riding accident. i hit a street seller when he crossed the road, just a blink of an eye out to my phone, and i remember is some mess i made.

Me thinks it's getting worse over the last couple years..
Police in Canada have come up with a new approach to fighting this trend..
I have built in Bluetooth in my car, so I have no problems with this issue..
It won't even display the text while the car is moving, but it will read it to me though..
Where is our Government when we need them..
Bluetooth should have been compulsory in all cars since at least 2010..
With a government assisted rebate program, working with insurance companies..
This would save countless lives & lessen the work load of an already over burdened & understaffed system..
